The Inauguration of Huay Poo Ling Micro Hydro Power Plant On February 6,2010
Dr. Piyasvasti Amranand, Chairman of EforE’s Advisory Board, presided over the Inauguration of Huay Poo Ling Micro Hydro Power Plant in Baan Luang sub-district, Jom Thong district, Chiang Mai Province on February 6, 2010. The project is achieved by the cooperation among government agencies, private sectors, including United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Thai Oil Public Company, and Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy, and the Huay Poo Ling community itself, and facilitated by EforE.

Electricity generated from this 22-kW hydropower plant will electrify local school, temple, and check-points of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP). The project reflects the contribution from urban people to rural people and allows private sector to express its social corporate responsibility (CSR). The urban have great opportunities to lift up the quality of life for people in the rural areas in terms of education and sanitary as well as income generation. This project electrifies the remote villages, inaccessible to the national grid.

This project provides electricity from renewable energy for the remote area without any environmental impact, and also mitigates global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
